Morning ;-)
How is your week going?
I had a great day yesterday, starting after the vet visit! I had a lovely afternoon getting creative with my friend James White (results coming up on the blog next week!) and catching up with the team at Temprell… the jewellers who made my engagement ring. I do love my job as a wedding blogger when I get to chat business and creativity with talented suppliers like them!
Anyway, Katy emailed me last week in need of some button hole ideas. She wants something non floral, vintage-inspired and quirky so I’ve put together a few options…
Fabric flowers
I particularly love the lace one above, if you have a lace dress it would tie in perfectly. If you’d like DIY tutorials of how to make these then let me know in the comments below and I’ll cook one up for you?!
Buttons
Button wedding bouquets are really popular now as an alternative to flowers so this is a nice little adaptation for the guys.
Feathers
Very easily made if you have a glue gun handy!
Hearts
Stuffed fabric hearts looks really sweet, maybe try embroidering your initials on too?
Pinwheels
These are great for colour lovers as you can make as bright and funky as you wish. Click here to learn how to make them!
Fun and quirky
It seems anything goes! To make this work I’d recommend using something really personal to your groom or tying in one of his hobbies?
Paper flowers
Love love love this quilled paper roses. They could be made even more personal if you made them out of a page from your man’s favourite book or sheet music of his favourite song?
My crafty favourites
Some great ideas here, to mix up some of the ideas above or utilise a few different crafting techniques!
Ha! When I told my other half earlier I was writing a post about button holes he was amazed people would want to read a whole post about them…. then I showed him the post and it turns out he thought I meant actual holes that buttons go through to fasten things!! Oh dear ;-)
So I hope it’s given you (particularly Katy!) a few ideas of ways you can personalise and be creative with your boutonnieres? For those of you who are still set on flowers I’ve got a floral version coming up soon.
Which one’s your favourite? Are you sticking with flowers or having something a little different?
Have a good day,
Chloe x
