Good morning lovely people,
In less than 10 months time one of my younger sisters is getting married. She’s the first one to tie the knot out of the three of us so we’re all enjoying doing ‘wedding stuff’ together and it’s sooooooo nice to be able to talk about all the crafty wedding ideas whizzing around my little brain ;-)
I know I can talk about them on here with you (obviously!) but its nice to see her eyes light up at an idea, help with things she’s worried about and hear her thoughts on all the different elements of the wedding process. It reminds me why I started Adore in the first place and makes me want to share these moments with you guys even more too!
One of our first crafty projects was to design their ‘Save The Dates’… they wanted something simple, rustic and cost effective so we started playing around with ideas. I shared one of our early designs here but today I’ve got the final cards to show you…
It starts to get quite expensive if you want to do small customised print jobs so we opted for a personalised rubber stamp for the front which did a great job and only cost £20! Here’s all the info on how we made them…
To make them you will need:
~ manilla cards and envelopes (from Hobbycraft)
~ personalised rubber stamp and ink pad (from Stamps Direct)
~ printed inserts (done on Word, printed at home and cut to size)
~ a lace edge craft punch (by Martha Stewart, available at Hobbycraft)
~ ribbon (from our local haberdashery shop)
~ glue, scisssors and thin, double-sided stationery tape
How to…
Step 1 ~ Prepare each element of the card so you can assemble them all together, e.g. fold all the cards, cut a length of ribbon for each and punch each insert along the bottom edge to give it a lace effect
Step 2 ~ To assemble the cards start by fixing the ribbon across the centre of the insert, just under the fold. Fix with thin stationery tape and glue the edges around the back out of view…
Step 3 ~ Using the tape again now fix the insert to the inside of your manilla cards
Step 4 ~ Stamp the front of the cards by applying a generous amount of ink to the rubber stamp then pressing down firmly onto the card…
It’s after repeating this process for about the 80th time that you realise why it’s important to keep things simple! Everyone really liked them though and mine has pride of place in our lounge…
Very excited already ;-)

These are so lovely, they look really professionally done. I’m going to order myself a stamp for my logo :) x
Thanks Clare, try The English Stamp Company too xx
I think you’ve both done an awesome job! They look very professional and perfect for a rustic look. Aren’t those stamps great and for only £20 and that lace punch is such a clever idea – I want one!
So now onto the main designs…. Look forward to seeing the next installment! :) xxx
Ah you’re expert opinion means a lot! Don’t get me started on paper punches… they’re becoming my guilty pleasure ;-) x
Ah, these are beautiful! Our save the dates (not homemade!) are similarly very rustic and pretty. Love the lace edge effect.
Thanks Lizzy! When’s your big day? x
These look great and great step-by-step instructions – most people assume that you know exactly what to do. Even (gasp) ‘a man!!!’ could follow these.
haha! I’m sure you’d do a great job Jon ;-)
Our day is 27th April next year, my 30th birthday! I’m one half of @mrandmrslast over on twitter, could get distracted all day by your pretty posts :) x
ah ha! Thanks so much lovely ;-) x
:) No probs, look forward to your next pretty post x
Loved the idea
I love this! I’m doing them for my wedding invites :)
What are all the sizes? of the cards, envelopes, the stamp?
:) :) :) :)
Beautiful!! I want to make my own, but I’m nervous they would turn out just terrible. The lace look is stunning!!
